Founder and industry veteran, Jorge Fernandez, wanted to create a company that was a part of the value chain – more than just a typical payment processor. As regulations in the electronic payments industry evolved, he saw the opportunity to develop a unique company that could enhance the experience of his current acquiring customers.
In 2008, he set off to build a platform that would serve as a “super gateway”. He soon realized the company needed to be more than just a provider to its acquiring customers and wanted to expand the offering to any small and medium-sized businesses. In early 2009, CenPOS was formed. Unlike many payment companies, he wanted to work with other major players in the payment space in the spirit of cooperation rather than competition. He knew CenPOS should be processor agnostic from inception. The goal was to empower merchants, to create value for the end user and enhance operational efficiency. This would give the customer the ability to freely choose a payment processor without disrupting their normal business processes.
The CenPOS vision was to provide a warm customer experience to payment technology. To be a company that understood its customers, what they wanted to accomplish and what was important to them. Even today, CenPOS develops products based on customer’s challenges. This holistic approach truly creates value because the customer’s need is addressed by clearly identifying the problem and building a solution that overcomes it. The goals of the company have always been rooted in focusing on customer satisfaction, rather than price, and CenPOS continues to follow that principle every day.
